Bettendorf Public Library Foundation to Hold Estate Planning Seminar

“Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way”

A will is one of the most important documents you will ever sign. Learn what you can accomplish with your will, the changes you may need to make in an existing will, and what happens if someone dies without a will, by attending “Where There’s a Will, There’s A Way,” a free seminar presented by the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation and sponsored by The Fountains.

The seminar will be held 10 – 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 12, in the Clubhouse at The Fountains, Senior Living Community, 3726 Thunder Ridge Road, Bettendorf. The Fountains is located just off Devil’s Glen, north of 53rd. After the seminar, light refreshments will be served.

With an up-to-date will, you will be able to determine precisely who will receive all the property you have accumulated over your lifetime and express your desire as to who will care for and serve as a guardian for your minor children. A will allows you to plan for the financial security of your loved ones and express your values by remembering at your death those people and organizations that were cherished during your lifetime.

The seminar presenter is Steve Goebel. As a board member and past president of the Quad City Planned Giving Council, Steve has offered this Wills Clinic for numerous local charities. Steve is with the Genesis Illini Hospital Foundation.

In addition, attorney Dave Dettmann, Senior Partner at Lane & Waterman LLP, will be present to answer more complex legal questions. Besides a law degree, Dave also holds a CPA certificate as well as an MBA. Dave has been a member of the Quad Cities Estate and Planned Giving Council for 28 years.
