Davenport West High School Celebrates 50 Years

Davenport West High School is celebrating its 50th graduating class in 2010! All Davenport West High alumni, faculty, and families are invited to participate in a weekend celebration to commemorate the occasion. All activities are being planned to coincide with West’s homecoming weekend during September 9th-12th, 2010.

The activities will kick off with the homecoming bonfire and crowning of the queen on Thursday, September 9th. This event will take place on the West High football field at the school at 7:00 PM.

On Friday, September 10th, the car rally will include homecoming queens and gala kings from the fifty years prior riding in vintage automobiles. Alumni are also invited to decorate a car or create a float commemorating their graduation year or decade. The car rally will begin in the West High parking lot at 5:00 PM and head toward Brady Street Stadium at 6:00 PM.

Also on Friday, September 10th, alumni are invited to cheer on the mighty Falcon football team as they take on the Pleasant Valley Spartans at Brady Street Stadium at 7:00 PM. There will be a special alumni section, band reunion song, as well as individual class reunion activities planned after the homecoming game.

On Saturday, September 11th, a special alumni reception is being held at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center from 6:30-11:00 PM. The event will include networking with past classmates, Hall of Honor inductions, a yearbook and prom dress display, as well as heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and music entertainment. Tickets will be available in advance for $25.00 per person.

On Sunday, September 12th, tours of the school and brunch are being held from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM. The tours will be lead by current student groups and include historic displays of pictures and memorabilia from West’s 50 years of history. Tickets for the brunch and school tours will also be available in advance for $10.00 per person.
