Are you confused when some one asks you what June’s birthstone is? That is understandable. June has three birthstones. The Pearl, a unique gem that is the only one produced from a living sea creature and requires no faceting or polishing. Alexandrite, a modern gem with chameleon-like qualities: a dark green in daylight or fluorescent light changing to a purplish-red in incandescent light. Moonstone is the third June gem. It resembles a pearl but has a floating light display similar to an opal. The moonstone often has a cat’s eye or a multi-rayed star visible in it when moved back and forth.
