What an Exciting Year at Snowstar!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to ski or snowboard? We have an amazing ski school that can teach you! Lessons are available every day. We offer both group and private lessons. We teach lessons to people of all ages, from 2 to 99+! No one is too old to learn, and it is better to start children at a younger age. Skiing is a great way to stay healthy and active in those cold winter months! Book a lesson today!
What to wear for a day on the slopes?! We get asked a LOT, how to get ready for those cold and windy conditions! Here is a guide to help our guests!
From the Desk of Rod Leatherman, Snowstar Ski School Director:
Base Layer: Long underwear is a great idea when it is bitter cold!
Socks: Socks are another crucial clothing item. Cold feet can cut a great day on the hill short. A good pair of wool socks will go a long way. Remember, two pairs are NOT better than one. Two pairs of socks can roll up and cause blisters and make your ski boot uncomfortable to wear. Ski socks are the best option and can be purchased just about anywhere. Ski socks are made from wool or synthetic fibers which wick moisture away from your skin and dry quickly. (Available at The Stash at Snowstar)
Outer Layer: Pick an outer layer that is warm but know that it will also get wet! Cotton and like materials will absorb water when warm and then refreeze when you are in the
elements. Pick a material that will direct the moisture away from your body. Snow pants or bibs offer the best protection.
Hat & Gloves: Same as your outer layer, your hat and gloves need to be warm and direct moisture away as well! A good pair of gloves can make or break a day on the hill! You want to keep your hands as warm and dry as possible. Bringing an extra set of gloves is not a bad idea. (Available at The Stash)
Scarf/Gaiter: In colder weather bring a scarf or ‘gaiter’ to cover your face. Windburn on your cheeks is never fun. On a sunny day consider sun block for the face.
Googles: Goggles are recommended for several reasons, including UV protection, wind protection, and to block snow or ice from getting in your eyes. (Available at The Stash)
