Getting to Know the New Director in the Hilltop Campus Village
Molly Otting Carlson has taken over the reins of the Executive Director of the Hilltop Campus Village. She brings with her a tremendous amount of energy, ideas and goals. In the July issue, Molly was introduced. Her professional and community background and expertise were mentioned, as well as her belief that small business is more than just food, drink and shopping – it is also social interaction. The community interaction with small or Mom ‘n Pop businesses is what makes them special. Here, in this article, Molly tells us about her personal life, what makes her tick!

Where: Davenport, Iowa
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Flight Attendant
(ironically now a nervous flyer)
Where have you lived?
Iowa, Minnesota, Chicago
What is your favorite hobby?
Creating something out of nothing in the kitchen
What is your favorite travel destination?
Anywhere. Truly, anywhere. The sights, the sounds, the smells, the tastes of travel are a thrill
Are you married?
Yes.
What is your spouse’s name?
Jason Carlson (Native of Minnesota, met
in Mexico!)
Are you a sports fan?
Yes, if it’s live. If in need of a nap, golf on tv will do the trick
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about people, their thoughts, ideas, and everything that has made them what they are today
Do you volunteer?
Yes!

What is an interesting fact or quip about you?
I’ve given a 50 minute talk on Herbert Hoover, with 23 minutes notice. Now I can do anything!
