QC Breast Cancer Support Group Meeting in Illinois is the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 11:30 am – 1 pm at the Butterworth Center, 1105 8th Street, Moline, Illinois. Meeting in Iowa is the 4th Thursday of the month, 6 pm – 7:30pm at Gilda’s Club in Genesis West, 1351 West Central Park. Call Pat Conway at (563) 355-7548.

Grief Support Group sponsored by CASI – meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Currently, this group meets at 9:30 am at the Family Restaurant, 902 W. Kimberly Rd, Davenport, IA. This is a FREE community service program; however participants are required to sign-up in advance by calling (563) 386-7477 ext 227 and leaving a message for Vicky Ertel. Participants are responsible for their own food and beverage costs.
Family Caregiver Support Group at CASI, 1035 W Kimberly Rd, Davenport. Caregiving can be challenging, but you are not alone. We invite you to join us the first and third Thursday of each month from 4:30 – 5:30pm in the CASI Library. Call (563) 386-7477. Go to website www.CASISeniors.org.
Mindful Bites offered by Ridgecrest Retirement Village, 4130 Northwest Blvd, Davenport. Come munch and learn the third Wednesday of each month at 10 am. September 21, speaker will be a pharmacist discussing prescription drug use. October 19th will be a SHIIP representative discussing Medicare benefits. Museum Exhibits
Bettendorf Children’s Museum has many interactive and hands on exhibits and activities for youth of all ages. Exhibits include: Fox Hollow, George’s Farm, Lil ‘Ssippi River Valley, Playhouse, Outdoor Play Area, Thomas & Friends – Explore the Rails! And Russell Dig Zone! Davenport School Museum housed in the JBYoung Opportunity Center, 1702 N. Main Street, Davenport, is the museum for the Davenport school system. It holds many pieces of memorabilia of Davenport schools. Hours are limited: Monday 9 AM – 11 AM, Thursday 10 AM – 2 PM and Friday 10 AM – 2: PM.
Figge Art Museum – Current exhibits and events include: 1. “Decolonial Intervention “ now through July 9, 2023. 2.“The Warner Collection: History in the Painting” now through April 30, 2023 3 “Erwin Eisch and Mauricio Lasansky: Artists Remember” September 10 through January 15, 2023 4. “Living Proof Exhibit: A Visualization of Hope” September 10 through January 1, 2023 5. “Peace, Power, and Prestige: Metal Arts in Africa” September 17 through January 8, 2023. Putnam Museum and Science Center – The Putnam, located at 1717 W. 12th Street, Davenport, Iowa, is featuring a traveling exhibit. “Anne Frank: A History for Today.” Their many exhibits include: “River, Prairie & People” “Unearthing Ancient Egypt” “Hall of Mammals” and “Fossils and Minerals” Call (563) 324-1933 or go online to www.putnam.org for more information or to buy tickets.
German American Heritage Center located at 712 W Second Street, Davenport. The museum is a Victorian architecture style building that chronicles and preserves the history of German-Americans in the Midwest region. Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday noon to 4:00 PM. closed Mondays.
Theater and Music Venues
Bucktown Revue is a two-hour entertainment show filled with lively music, skits, poetry and guffaws galore. Reminiscent of Prairie Home Companion, this show is held monthly on the third Friday at the Davenport Junior Theatre, 2822 Eastern Ave, Davenport, IA. Performances start at 7:00 pm. Other Events
Craft Show The Beta Sigma Phi Craft Show will be Saturday, October 15, 9:00am – 3:00 pm. Galva High School, Galva, Illinois. Over 100 vendors $2 admission. Food available. No pets or strollers, please. Proceeds go to community projects.
