CASI – A Place to Feel Welcomed and Connected
By Laura Kopp
CASI President/CEO
Brené Brown, renowned author and therapist, defines connection as “the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” As CASI gears up for our 43rd annual St. Patrick’s Day Race, I’m reminded that beyond the miles run and the celebrations shared, it’s the connections—between friends, families, and even strangers—that make this tradition so meaningful.
At CASI, we understand just how vital staying connected is as we age. Social engagement isn’t just about having fun—it plays a critical role in healthy aging. Staying active and involved with others keeps our minds sharp, expands our experiences, and opens the door to new hobbies and interests that bring fulfillment well beyond age 50. The programs and activities at CASI are designed to foster these connections, from shared-interest classes to fitness sessions and support groups. When we engage with those around us, our hearts, minds, and bodies all benefit. On the flip side, isolation and loneliness significantly increase the risk of poor health outcomes, including Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
With nearly 7,000 activities each year, there’s something for everyone at CASI—a place where you can feel welcome, included, and most importantly, connected. We invite you to join us and find your community. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for the CASI 43rd St. Patrick’s Day Race on March 15. Come for the race, stay for the connections—you never know who you might meet!
