There’s a New Face at CASI! Welcome Amy Johnson
By Kathy Malmloff
CASI Director of Senior Services
The Center For Active Seniors, Inc. (CASI) is pleased to announce that Amy Johnson has joined the organization as the Director of Operations.
Amy comes to CASI with 23 years of experience in operations, parks, and recreation, and recently served as the Executive of Operations, at the Two Rivers Y, in Moline, IL. Her first day at CASI was Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Amy grew up in Tampico, IL where she played sports and loved to be outdoors with her two older brothers and younger sister. She says, “my family is from a farming community and I learned good values along with hard work early on in life.” After graduating from high school, Amy continued her education at Sauk Valley College in Dixon, IL, on a basketball and volleyball sport scholarship. Amy decided to go into the U.S. Army to obtain the GI Bill to finish her education and spent three years in active duty, including participating in Desert Storm. Upon her honorable discharge, she returned to school at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. While at Western she continued to serve our country in the Illinois National Guard for another five years.
Amy was asked about her greatest accomplishment in her life and she stated that her 17-year-old son, Luke, was her pride and joy and biggest achievement. Amy and her partner, Sue, have been together for 15 years and live in Moline. She says they live a happy life and love to travel across this great country in their RV. Amy also enjoys watching sports and has recently become an Iowa Hawkeye fan. “I am not just saying that to get extra points, I really have,” added Amy. She is also an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
“I am so excited to start my new journey at CASI and I look forward to meeting each of you soon,” says Amy. We hope that you will find an opportunity to join us in welcoming Amy to CASI.
