Holiday Hat Bash: A Party with a Purpose
By Laura L. Kopp
CASI President/CEO
It is hard to believe that the holiday season is just weeks away. At CASI, we are deeply engaged in preparing for the return of the in-person Holiday Hat Bash: A Party with a Purpose. Fourteen years ago Lenora did not realize that her letter of thanks to CASI would spur the beginning of Hat Bash and the Senior Secret Santa program which ensures that close to 1000 area seniors receive a gift at holiday time. Knowing that every senior, many of whom really need a gift, would not have anyone to give them one has given CASI the inspiration to continue to the Holiday Hat Bash: A Party with a Purpose year after year.
“I want to thank you for my gifts, my only ones.
It means a lot to be remembered.”
Love, Lenora, 88 years old
In 2022, CASI is combining both the virtual – online silent auction (which has sustained our ability to continue the Senior Secret Santa program throughout the pandemic) with our CASI in-person party. Save the date to check out dozens of wonderful silent auction packages online starting November 10. Then join us in person the evening of Thursday, November 17, 2022 when we will once again celebrate seniors with delicious food and drink, festive hats and great music provided by Freddy Allen. All those at Hat Bash will have a chance to see the silent auction packages in person and the auction will close that evening at 8:30 pm.
100% of the proceeds from Holiday Hat Bash are used to support our CASI Senior Secret Santa Program and CASI’s mission services including our Senior Advocacy program, which connects and refers older adults, their families and/or caregivers to local, state and federal resources that allow them to remain independent in their own homes as their needs evolve. Funds from this event also support Jane’s Place, the only adult day services center in Eastern Iowa, for those adults living with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The needs of area seniors year round, that is why your support of this holiday tradition is so important.
